Stress & Anxiety
You are not alone!
Anxiety disorders are the world’s most common mental health conditions, affecting millions globally. In Canada, rates have doubled among those aged 15 and older over the past decade, and women are affected more than men. Early support and effective treatment are key to managing anxiety and reclaiming balance.
What’s the difference between Stress and Anxiety?
Stress is a normal part of life and can even motivate us to take action, but it becomes unhealthy when it’s constant or overwhelming. Chronic stress can affect your body and mind, causing fatigue, sleep problems, irritability, anxiety, and difficulty concentrating, and may lead to more serious health issues over time.
Anxiety is a natural response to stress, helping us stay alert and focused in challenging situations. However, if anxiety becomes intense, persistent, and starts interfering with daily life, it can become unhealthy. This is then called an anxiety disorder.
Causes of Anxiety
Anxiety can come from many sources. It may run in families or be influenced by brain chemistry. Stressful experiences, trauma, or health issues can trigger anxious feelings, and personality traits like being highly sensitive or a natural over-thinker can make it harder to cope. Things like alcohol, caffeine, or other substances can worsen anxiety, and everyday pressures — work, finances, or relationships — can add to the stress. Understanding the causes is the first step toward finding relief and support. Hypnotherapy is an effective tool to find and address the root cause of your anxiety.
How Hypnotherapy and Somatic EMDR can help
Hypnotherapy helps you reframe negative thought patterns that fuel anxiety, replacing them with calmer, more balanced ways of thinking. In a relaxed, focused state, it can reduce physical tension, ease racing thoughts, and help you respond to stressful situations more calmly. Over time, it supports better sleep, improved focus, and a greater sense of control over daily anxiety.
Somatic EMDR helps the body and brain process unresolved stress stored in the nervous system, including tension carried in the vagus nerve. By safely releasing these physical and emotional patterns, it calms the nervous system, reduces triggers, and helps you feel more grounded and in control.
